Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026 · Notis Privasi (BM)

This policy explains how the Daystreak Countdown app (the “App”) and this website, daystreak.net, handle personal data: what stays on your device, what leaves it, who receives it and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Daystreak Countdown is made by Thinksview, the controller of the personal data described in this policy:

Thinksview
Level 6, Menara Genesis, No. 33, Jalan Sultan Ismail
Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
[email protected]

2. Your records stay on your device

The countdowns you create, with their titles, notes, dates, reminders, photos, Memorylines and time capsules, are stored on your device. You don’t need an account to use the App. Your records leave the device only:

  • through iCloud and Google Drive sync, if you turn it on (iOS, Premium);
  • through Google Drive sync, if you turn it on (Android, Premium): the App copies your records and photos to a hidden app-data folder in your own Google Drive and reads them back on your other Android devices. The App connects to Google Drive directly from your device, so our servers never receive this data, and it can only see its own app-data folder, not your other Drive files;
  • through your phone’s own system backup (iCloud device backup or Google backup), under your Apple or Google account;
  • when you choose to share an item publicly in the optional community (section 5);
  • when you send feedback, as the text and screenshots you choose to include (section 4).

Google Drive sync uses its copy only to keep your devices in step. You can remove it in Settings → Sync → Delete data from Google Drive (or in Google Drive on the web: Settings → Manage apps → Daystreak Countdown → Delete hidden app data) and revoke the App’s access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Daystreak Countdown’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Our community server never receives a record you have not chosen to share. The App asks for access only when you use the related feature, and you can change this in your device settings at any time:

  • Notifications, for the reminders you set;
  • Photos, to choose background images;
  • Calendar (iOS), if you choose to import calendar events as countdowns. Calendar data is read on your device and is not sent to us.

3. Analytics, crash reports and ads

  • Google Firebase Analytics records how the App is used, such as which screens and features are opened, together with an app-instance identifier and device information. It never receives your titles, notes or photos.
  • Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports and diagnostics, with an installation identifier, so we can fix bugs.
  • Google AdMob, with Liftoff (Vungle) mediation, shows ads in the free version. Ad networks receive device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), your IP address and how you interact with ads.

In the EEA, the UK and other places where consent is required, the App shows Google’s consent form (User Messaging Platform) and applies your choices; you can change them later in Settings → Privacy choices. On iOS, the App asks before ads may use your device’s advertising identifier (App Tracking Transparency). Premium removes ads, and the ad SDK is not started for Premium users.

4. Feedback

If you use the in-app feedback form, it sends your message, rating and any screenshots you attach, together with the app version, operating system version, language, region and a random per-install ID, to Thinksview’s feedback service (hosted on Cloudflare). If you email us, we receive your email address and message. We use this only to answer you and improve the App, keep it until it is no longer needed for that, and delete it sooner if you ask.

5. Optional community features

You can choose to share a countdown publicly as a live card, share selected Memoryline stories, keep a public profile and encourage others, in Daystreak Countdown, Daystreak and on daystreak.net. Taking part is optional and for adults aged 18 and over; if you don’t sign in, every private feature keeps working.

  • You sign in with Google or Apple through Google Firebase Authentication, which keeps a sign-in record such as your email address. Our community server keeps only a coded ID for your account, your devices’ type and what you choose to share.
  • Shared items are stored on the Daystreak community server (Cloudflare, data stored in the EU). A shared card shows its title, description, number, date, colours, icon, an optional reviewed photo, your time zone as a UTC offset and your public profile, and updates automatically from your countdown.
  • Encouragement is public, including who sent it and on which day. One public author ID links everything you share or encourage.
  • Community notifications are opt-in: your device’s notification token, app language and time zone go to our server and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (and Apple Push Notification service on iOS).

The Community Privacy Notice describes the data, legal bases, recipients, retention periods and your choices in full. You can delete your community data at any time: see Delete community data.

6. Why we use data (legal bases)

  • To provide the App and features you ask for (contract): reminders, iCloud sync, purchases, the community account, notifications you turn on, and exporting or deleting community data.
  • Your consent: personalised ads and analytics where consent is required, ad tracking on iOS, calendar access, and each item you publish in the community. You can withdraw consent at any time in the App or your device settings; this does not affect earlier use.
  • Our legitimate interests: crash reports and diagnostics to keep the App stable, usage statistics where consent is not required, non-personalised ads in the free version, security, and answering feedback.
  • Legal obligations: answering lawful requests and keeping records the law requires.

Providing personal data is voluntary. If you decline analytics or ads consent, or never sign in, the App’s private features keep working.

7. Who receives data

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with:

  • Service providers that process it for us: Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Authentication and Cloud Messaging, AdMob, Google Play and, for sync you turn on, Google Drive), Liftoff (Vungle), Apple (App Store, iCloud, Sign in with Apple, push notifications) and Cloudflare (community server, feedback service and this website).
  • Other people, for what you choose to make public in the community.
  • Authorities, when the law requires us to respond to a valid request.
  • A successor, if Thinksview is involved in a merger or acquisition; this policy would continue to apply.

8. International transfers

Our providers process data in the United States, the European Union and other countries; the community database and media are stored in the EU, and Firebase Authentication stores sign-in data in the US. Where data leaves the EU, the UK or your country, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified) and on Standard Contractual Clauses. Transfers out of Malaysia follow the cross-border transfer rules of Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

9. How long we keep data

  • Records on your device stay until you delete them or uninstall the App; iCloud sync, Google Drive sync and system backups follow your Apple or Google settings; the Google Drive copy stays until you delete it in the App or in Google Drive.
  • Feedback and support emails are kept until they are no longer needed to answer you and improve the App, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • Analytics, crash and ad data are kept by Google and Liftoff for their documented retention periods.
  • Community data is kept as listed in the Community Privacy Notice: for example, a withdrawn private copy for 30 days, sessions until 30 days after expiry or sign-out, and consent, terms and deletion records for 3 years after the identity is deleted.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent. You can:

  • delete countdowns in the App, or uninstall it to remove local data;
  • change ad and analytics choices in Settings → Privacy choices (where offered) and, on iOS, in the system’s tracking settings;
  • export, make private or delete community data in Settings → My sharing or at daystreak.net/manage;
  • email [email protected] for anything else.

We reply within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live; in Malaysia, this is the Personal Data Protection Commissioner.

11. Children

The App is for ages 13 and over. Community participation is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. This website

daystreak.net is hosted on Cloudflare. Its pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies; community pages run no analytics. If you sign in to manage the community here, the site keeps your sign-in and pending privacy requests in your browser’s storage, as described in the Community Privacy Notice.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App, the website or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the App.
