A simple way to picture it
“A week by the sea” is the departure countdown. “Check in for the flight” is a separate preparation event.
Set it up, step by step
- Create a Countdown event for the departure date. Use an all-day countdown for the holiday itself, or an exact time when a timed event is what you need.
- Give the trip a recognizable name. Choose a built-in theme, or use Premium to add a destination photo.
- Set a reminder that leaves time for the task you care about. Keep check-in, packing and document checks as separate dates if they happen before you travel.
- Place the holiday counter in a Home Screen widget. Before leaving, compare the dates and times with the latest booking confirmations.
Make it work for your everyday
A travel countdown does not retrieve airline updates. If departure changes, update the event yourself.
When time zones matter, treat your booking and airline as the source of truth. Recheck timed events after travel or a device time-zone change.
After the trip, use Daystreak to remember the day it began or the moment you want to keep. That counter answers a different question from the original countdown.

Does Countdown track flights live?
No. This setup counts toward a date you enter; it is not a flight-status service.
Can I keep several upcoming trips?
Yes. Create separate countdowns with descriptive names so each departure is easy to recognize.
